On 17–18 July, face-to-face expert consultations on the draft Agreement on Electronic Trade in Goods in the EAEU were held at the Eurasian Economic Commission. Kazakhstan was represented in the discussions by Denis Stepanets, Chairman of the Digital Kazakhstan Association, and Elena Bychkova, Managing Director.

The event was chaired by Askat Bekov, Deputy Director of the EEC's Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Department, and brought together representatives of government authorities and businesses from the Union countries.

The consultations focused on harmonising approaches to the regulation of e-commerce within the EAEU. Issues such as consumer protection, the use of electronic document management, uniform terminology and the circulation of digital goods were discussed.

According to Askat Bekov, the key objective of the agreement is to establish transparent and uniform rules for e-commerce within the Union's internal market. This will create conditions for the free movement of goods and services and stimulate economic growth in the context of rapid digitalisation.

The document is being developed as part of the Action Plan for the Development of Electronic Commerce in the EAEU, approved by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in 2021. The agreement is expected to be signed by the end of 2025.
